I will begin by looking at other nursery design - what we did not want was a gender based design like these two below as this is not a contemporary way of designing rooms and we wanted a much more sophisticated approach:

We did want something with more subtle tones using a neutral colour palette, soft lines not hard edges with an ergonomic, organic design.
We liked this design as it has the subtle shades and uses an accent colour to add life to the room, we have chosen not to use an accent colour in this design however we did consider this as a possibility.

This design is perhaps too white and clean for a nursery, looks perhaps to clinical and we wanted warmer tones to make it welcoming for a child.

This is the one that is most like the design we were aiming for with warm tones and subtle neutral colours which create a cosy and comfortable feel that will work with our hand design crib.
