Major project

Final Major Project Outcome

After long 6 weeks of hard work here is my final out come of Major Project on doradesignart.wixsite.com!!!

Reflection:
I have enjoyed working in Roomstyler online software. It took me 9 days to do my designs of floor plans and 3D renders.
It took me more than a week to gather all textures and samples of copy right images, but making design boards took me only 6 hours.
Putting the design boards and 3D renders on website was very quick and easy part.

Website creation - Mobile version

Process of creating Mobile version of Wix website

In addition to previews bog post where I have talked about creating my Wix website for desktop version in this blog I will show I designed Mobile version.
When you go to mobile version it will be shown like an actual display of mobile phone so you can clearly see how it looks like. The tool bars are in same positions just with slightly differences. The right side of tool bar is the same.

In this case left side of tool bar contains:
  1. Menus & Pages
  2. Mobile Tools-here are quick action bars & button back to top
  3. Hidden Elements
  4. Page Layout Optimiser

Home page and tool bars

 Setting layout Home page

On Mobile Menus you can create different designs and effects, so I have experimented with them. You can see in images below that I have tried.

Customise Design

Customise Design

The design I have chosen in the end

Defoliate text is lined up on left side

I have decided to put text in the middle of the screen

In the Mobile Text Settings the alignment was on  the left side of the screen

I chose to put the text alignment in the middle

Between the bottom strip and footer was a big gap so I have fixed it

Finish result - there is no gap

Also I am following my linear and centred approach through the whole page and website

The background picture is working perfectly on the desktop version however, in Mobile version it show like this

I have decided to remove background from Mobile version

The logo was as well on the left side so I moved it in the centre

The logo is perfectly centred

Biography page

As I said earlier the desktop and Mobile version are slightly different so I had to make few adjustments. The look of my Biography page is completely different from desktop to Mobile version. So on the desktop the text and the picture are in the same row, however on Mobile version you don't have that option. In Mobile version I put picture and text in the centre.

Text and the picture are not in the same positions

Text and the picture are centred

Portfolio page

The portfolio page had different gallery layout. I'm following the same concept of linear, centred and rule of thirds.

Different Gallery Layout

Applying my concept to the Gallery Layout

Contact Page

Luckily the contact page was fine so I didn't have to do any changes on this case.

Contact Page
 Project Pages

This page is still in process because my 2D and 3D projects are going to be here. Again I'm following my concept trough the whole website and each individual page.

Correcting the layout

Centering the pictures and texts

On Project Pages you can even add slide deck gallery

I hope you did enjoy reading my designing process and creation of website, maybe even learn something new. The finished website will be live soon!

Website creation

Process of my website creation desktop version

In my previous blog post I have started working on designing my own website. For designing my website I'm using Wix online software. In my website I will showcase my portfolio of work from 2D & 3D classes from term 1. In this post I will show what I have designed for my site on the desktop version of Wix.

When your open your Wix website you can see that there are two toolbars: one on the left and other one on the right side of the screen. The right side is the navigation bar where you can see:

  1. 'Menus & Pages'
  2. '+' is for adding images, buttons, texts..
  3. 'Add Apps' market is for adding apps and social networks
  4. 'My Uploads'
  5. 'Bookings' is for adding appointments, calendars..
  6. 'Start blogging'

Biography or About Me Page

The photography is taken by professional photographer, I wrote general information's about me and made the page name Biography.

Portfolio Page

In Portfolio page I will showcase my work of 2D & 3D Projects from term 1. I chose layout witch is divided 3x3 - meaning 3 images in one row and 3 images in one column and this particular style is known as 'Rule of thirds'.  But it's going to stay work in progress until the very end.
When you look at my website it is clearly visible that everything is in linear order and in strict symmetry and that flow is flowing through whole page.

By clicking on one of the Portfolio images it will take you to new linked page to see more information of that particular peace of work.

Photo Portfolio Introduction Session

Photo introduction

Today I had an introduction in photography. For the next term we need to chose witch class we are going to attend either Photography or Life Drawing. Since Life Drawing was suddenly cancelled   today an hour before starting, later today I had opportunity to try out photography. I really liked it because it is fast and camera did all 'the hard' work for me.With my magic box and press of a button I made photos below.

For my sequential photo research I have look up to Jürgen Klauke

This is an college image made of 12 photos in black and white technique. Although it is a still image there is a movement in the picture. The fabric is light and transparent so you can clearly see the direction of the movement. I think that this and my image are similar in terms of transparency, direction of the movement and shapes. Blog post of my sequential photo.

Using HomeByMe Software

HomeByMe Software

This is my first time using HomeByMe website software and I spent 20 hours working in it in order to get familiar with it. Our tutor Mark made handout for Homebyme design software to help us out how to use it.

In order to use the software first I had to make an account. After that I chose the type of the project and give it a name. The last step was to chose how you want to design floor plans.

When I started to draw a floor plan I came across to first problem - the measurements were in inches. So I needed to change it to centimetres and I have as you can see in the picture below.

In build section I have found several different categories in witch you can build architectural elements. But than I came too another problem - the catalogue is to small for my requirements.

The catalogue is very small and limited. I couldn't make my own kitchen how I wanted instead I had to use default block, witch I dislike.
From the 'wide' range of sofas I selected some of them witch might fit in to my design, I placed them next to each other and play around with them so I can chose the right one for my design. I repeat this process with everything else as well.

This software have 3 different points of view. 2D perspective you can look at floor plans, 3D is giving you 3 dimensional perspective and STEPS are here to give you a virtual walk around the design.

This is final floor plan for ground floor.

On first floor I would like to have a Gallery but I couldn't make on in here, so here is what I manage to do out of it...
On the first floor is Bedroom and Bathroom witch are meant to be surrounded with glass fence, but again it's not possible to do it.

This is complited first floor plan.

After I have finished my designing, I took some realistic images or well known renderings. The free version have water mark on it, but you have 3 credits on renderings witch will come in high resolution (1920x1080px).

And lastly here are some more errors in this software.
1. You can not move the positions of rooms (where you have placed it, stays there forever, unless you wish to start again)
2. You can not move things from layers (ground floor/first floor/basement)
3. Limited and extremely small catalogue
4. Low quality renderings (unless you pay)

Overall, I give it a shot, but I know that this software is not for me. There are more and better options for my needs and requirements such as Roomstyler wich I'm planing to use.

I would like to hear what you think of this software, let me know in comment section below.
